October and November 2015 saw rugby mania hit central Exeter. In the spirit of the games, Northernhay Gardens hosted a Rugby World Cup Fanzone, to the delight of sports and music fans across the county. Over a period of 8 weeks visitors were treated to world cup matches, live music, and local food and drink in a beautiful city centre setting. The Fanzone held the accolode of largest performence stage ever built in the centre of Exeter – and with a state of the art giant video screen the fanzone was the perfect place to get close to the action.
dB production services was delighted to supply a long term hire package of generators and site lighting to remain in-situ for the duration of this 2 month event. Our behemoth power plant behind the main stage featured 2 x synchronous 200kVA sets with a 75kva set in use for ancilliary back-of-house areas. We then installed smaller generators around the periphery of the site to supply caterers, lighting circuits, and bars. Our best technicians took extra care in installing floodlighting systems suitable for use over long periods in any weather conditions.
Once our infrastructure responsibilities were fulfilled, two dB electricians were stationed on-site for each of the opening days of the event. It was not long before all involved were swept away in the festival atmosphere – staff included!
